Can You Find Me

Home Up

This classroom activity gives the students an experience of graphing points on their TI-83 and on their Communicators

Pair the students to work together.  One will use the communicator and one will use the graphing calculator.

Review the steps of graphing with both items.

The lesson is divided into three sections:

  1. Locate some points given their ordered pairs.  The students will be given some ordered pairs and they must use their communicators and graphing calculators to locate the points.  The students will compare the results from the communicators and the graphing calculators.

  2. From some pictures of coordinates, name the coordinates and then graph them on the communicators and the graphing calculators.  The students will compare the results from the communicators and the graphing calculators.

  3. The students will be given a description of a set of points.  The students need to name some points that fit the description and then graph them.  The students will compare the results from the communicators and the graphing calculators.
