bulletLesson Objective:  Students will try to simplify fractions by finding the common prime factors for the numerator and denominator for the given fraction.

 

bulletMaterials needed:     1 TI-73 for each pair of students
                              Activity Sheet
 
bulletProcedure: Show students how to Enter Fractions and Simplify them on the TI73

                The goal of this activity is to challenge the students to be able to simplify fractions in as few steps as possible. 

                Pair students to work together on the task. After students understand the operation of the calculator distribute the activity sheet for students to record their simplified fractions and their guesses.
