As student work with the Algebra Tiles it is important they they develop a conceptual understanding for subtraction using the tiles.  This lesson assumes that the students have worked with the tiles in a previous lesson to understand subtraction.  This lesson engages the students by asking important questions about the tiles as they work with them.
