Algebra Skills on the TI-89

The TI-89 graphing calculator has a built-in symbolic manipulator.  This means that the TI-89 can handle most of the algebraic skills taught in most Algebra I and II high school courses.  We will be using the TI-89 in our AP calculus class as a tool to perform some of the tedious algebra manipulations so we can concentrate on developing an understanding of the calculus concepts.

The algebraic skills which can be performed on the TI-89 are:

  4. Zeros
  5. Approximation
  6. Common Denominator
  7. PropFrac
  8. NSolve
  9. Trigonometry
  10. Complex
  11. Extract
