In mathematics it is important to view functions numerically, graphically, and analytically. Prior to the graphing calculator most mathematics courses concentrated on the analytical view of functions only. With the TI-83 and TI-89 graphing calculators it is possible to view functions numerically and graphically. Most students are familiar with graphing equations on a calculator, but the calculator can be used to understand functions in other ways too.
